Ingredients

1/4 cup melted butter

2 lbs apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced (about 6 cups)

1 tbsp fresh squeezed lemon juice

2/3 cup golden raisins soaked in 2 Tbsps Rum for 30 minutes then drained

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg

1 tsp vanilla

Phyllo dough

Powdered sugar, coarse sugar, French vanilla ice cream or cool whip(optional for topping)


Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a small bowl combine raisins and rum. Let sit for 30 minutes. Then discard the rum.

Peel, core, and cut the apples into small stripes. Combine apples with lemon juice. Add cinnamon, sugar, raisins, nutmeg and vanilla extract. Set aside and melt butter for phyllo dough.

Take one phyllo sheet and lay it in the prepared baking sheet. Brush with butter and repeat the process with the remaining six phyllo sheets.

Spoon apple filling towards the middle and carefully roll up keeping seam up bottom. Brush ends with butter.

Makes 3 strudels

Bake in over at 375 degrees F for 35 minutes or until phyllo turns a nice golden brown.

Remove from oven and let cool for 15 mins and dust with powdered sugar.
