Sloppy Joe Hawaiian Roll Sliders


2 tbsp. Butter, divided

1 tsp. Olive oil

1 pound lean ground beef

1/2 medium yellow onion, diced

1/2 green bell pepper, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 (6 oz) can tomato paste

3/4 cup water

3/4 cup ketchup

1 tbsp. brown sugar

1 tsp. yellow mustard

2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp. Cumin

3/4 tsp. Chili powder

1/2 tsp. Kosher salt

1/4 tsp. Black pepper

1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes

Dash of hot sauce

1 pack Hawaiian Sweet Rolls

1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Everything bagels seasoning, for topping


Heat butter and oil in large skillet over medium to high heat. Add the beef and break apart into crumbles. Cook until browned. Add onion and bell pepper and cook until tender. Add garlic and cook until fragrant. Add tomato paste and water. Stir well. Add ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, cumin, chili powder, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir well to combine. Cook over medium heat for approx. 15 minutes or until mixture has thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Remove Hawaiian rolls from package and using large sharp knife slice in half. Place bottom half of buns in a 13 x 9 inch baking dish. Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture evenly on top of buns. Sprinkle cheddar cheese evenly over sloppy joe mixture. Place the top half of the buns over the cheese. Brush the tops of the buns with 1 tbsp. of melted butter and sprinkle with the Everything Bagel Seasoning. Bake for 10 minutes, or until buns are lightly toasted and cheese has melted.
