Ingredients

2 refrigerated pie crusts

1 can cherry pie filling

½ cup coarse sugar

1 beaten egg + 2 tbsp. water for egg wash


Instructions

Roll out pie crusts onto lightly floured surface.

Cut the dough into 4 rhombus or diamond shapes.

Spoon cherry filling into middle of each pastry. Following the folds of a paper envelope , fold the pastry, leaving the upper flap open.

Place heart cutout on folded edges of pastry envelope. Place pastry on parchment lined baking sheet.  Brush with egg wash then sprinkle with coarse sugar. Repeat for each one.

Bake pastry at 375 degrees F. for 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned.  Do not remove from baking sheet until completely cool.
