One of my FAVORITE recipes!

Cacio e Pepe Mac N Cheese with Toasted Breadcrumbs


1 pound pasta (I used Trader Joe’s Authentic Macaroni Noodles)

8 tbsp. butter (1 stick)

2 tsp. freshly cracked black peppercorns, plus more for topping

2 cups heavy whipping cream

1/2 cup pecorino romano cheese, finely hand-shredded

2/3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese ( I used Trader Joe’s)

1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs

1 tbsp. Olive oil


Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the macaroni according to package instructions, al dente.

Melt the butter in a large skillet and  toss in the pepper, stirring continuously until fragrant and toasted, about 3-4 minutes on medium heat.

Add in the heavy whipping cream and cook for a minute, stirring continuously until warmed.

Stir in the cheeses to the cream and mix until nice and melted.

Add the cooked macaroni to sauce and stir until all noodles nice and coated. Turn to low heat.

In small saucepan melt heat the olive oil and add breadcrumbs. Cook until golden brown and toasted.

Sprinkle breadcrumbs over top of noodles.

Serve hot!
