3 large eggs

3/4 cup heavy whipping cream

1/2 cup 1-2% milk

1-2 tbsp. Irish whiskey

1 tbsp. vanilla

Pinch nutmeg

2 tbsp.sugar

1/2 tsp. sea salt

6 slices of French bread, sliced 1 1/2 inches thick, day old

1-2 tbsp. unsalted butter

1-2 tbsp. vegetable oil

Confectioners’ sugar

Cane Sugar or Maple syrup

Instructions

In large bowl whisk together the eggs, cream, milk, Irish whiskey, vanilla, sugar, nutmeg and salt. Pour in baking pan.

Soak each slice of bread for about 10 minutes in the egg mixture. Flip bread halfway through to saturate both sides.

Heat a large pan or griddle over medium heat and add 1 tbsp. of oil and 1 tbsp. of butter to the pan.

When it is hot, cook the French toast until lightly crisp and browned on each side. You can add more oil or butter if needed.

Sprinkle powdered sugar over the pain perdu before serving with maple syrup or cane sugar.

Enjoy! 😉
