It's Hip to be Square!

Hands down, I think pizza is the best meal any time of the day! It's great for quick snacks, small get togethers and family dinners. Pizza truly is a world FAVORITE! Especially when you have a homemade sauce with roasted garlic. I can't wait to share my fantastic recipe with you! Now remember, there are a few steps involved, but as I've mentioned before.. Rome wasn't built in a day!

Homemade Sheet Pan Pepperoni Pizza



Ingredients for Homemade Pizza Sauce

1 garlic bulb, roasted (see instructions below)

2 tbsp. Olive oil, divided

1 (12 ounce) can San Marzano whole tomatoes, peeled and broken up by hand

1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste

1 tsp. basil

1 tsp. oregano

Pinch of salt

1 tsp. granulated sugar

1/8 tsp. black pepper

1/8 tsp. onion powder

Ingredients for Pizza Dough and Toppings

1 pound bag Trader Joe's ready to bake herb pizza dough (or your favorite brand)

1 and 1/2 cups shredded Quattro Formaggio cheese ( I used Trader Joe's brand) 5 ounces sliced pepperoni

1 Tsp. Italian herbs


Instructions for Roasted Garlic

Heat oven to 400 degrees F.

Peel and discard the papery outer layers of the whole garlic bulb.

Leave skins of the individual cloves of garlic intact though.

Using a sharp knife, cut about 1/4 inch from the top of cloves.

Place garlic bulb on aluminum foil and

drizzle 1 tbsp. of the olive oil over the garlic. Wrap the aluminum foil closed and bake for about 20 mins.

Remove from oven and when cooled a bit pull or squeeze the roasted garlic cloves out of their skins. Set aside.


Instructions for Homemade Sauce

In a medium sized pot set to medium-low heat, add the roasted garlic, remaining olive oil and the rest of ingredients and stir until combined. Simmer for approx. 20-30 minutes. Remove from heat.


Instructions for Pizza Remove ball of dough from refrigerator about 30 minutes before using. Turn oven to 450 degrees F. Place a small amount of flour on clean countertop. Remove dough from package and sprinkle lightly with flour. Sprinkle rolling pin lightly with flour and roll out dough into a square shape, large enough for 9x13 baking sheet. Lightly oil the sheet pan and place dough on it, pressing into each corner until it covers evenly all the way to the edges. Spoon out about 1 to 1 1/2 cups of the homemade sauce onto dough and spread evenly (you can certainly use more or less if you prefer). Sprinkle the cheese evenly over sauce and then top with the pepperoni. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until crust is crisp and golden. Remove from oven and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
