If you can’t find me at my house perhaps you should look for me at this one!
I’ve been to this famous restaurant all times of the day.. yes even at 3 am. (At least once or twice) lol. It’s not really considered fast food however customers enjoy sit-down table service with the speed of delivery found at fast-food establishments. I’ve probably ordered everything on their menu but the one thing I love the most is their famous WAFFLES!!
Wannabe Waffle House Waffles
1 1/2 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 large egg
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 tbsp. butter, melted and cooled, plus more for brushing and topping
1/4 cup vegetable shortening, melted and cooled
Maple syrup, for topping
In large bowl whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Whisk the egg, milk, buttermilk and vanilla in a separate bowl until combined. Stir the egg mixture, melted butter and shortening into the dry ingredients until just combined.
Preheat a waffle iron and brush with a bit of melted butter. Using ladle pour batter into the waffle iron (approx. 1/2 cup).
Cook until golden brown. Repeat with the remaining batter. Top the waffles with butter and maple syrup.
