There’s Bread and then there’s CORNBREAD.. and then there’s
BUTTERMILK CORNBREAD.. and then there’s
BUTTERMILK CORNBREAD WITH CREAMED CORN!
Southern Style Creamed Corn Cornbread
Ingredients 1 cup flour
1 cup cornmeal
1/4 cup sugar 4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup buttermilk
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 (14 oz.) can creamed corn
1 tbsp. Vegetable oil
Add the vegetable oil to a 12-inch cast iron skillet. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. and place the skillet in the oven while it preheats.
Whisk together flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together egg, buttermilk and melted butter.
Combine the wet and dry ingredients together until mixed.
Add creamed corn and mix thoroughly. Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven. Pour the batter into the skillet and return the skillet to the oven and bake for approx. 25 minutes or until the cornbread is golden brown. Serve warm with butter or honey!
