It’s one of the oldest prepared foods in history and definitely a staple food in my pantry. This week I’ll have all kinds of yummy bread recipes. Let’s start this week off FANCY! No need to go to your local bakery when you can make this in your own kitchen! Warm and soft on inside with a golden crispy crust! Pass the butter please!!

Homemade Artisan Bread

3 and 1/4 cups bread flour, plus more for dusting

2 tsp. instant yeast

2 tsp. coarse salt

1 and 1/2 cups cool water

In a large mixing bowl whisk together the flour, yeast, and salt. Slowly pour in the cool water and mix together with a wooden spoon. The dough will be dry and shaggy, but keep working it until all the flour is moistened. The dough will then be sticky! It’s fine! Shape into a ball.

Cover the dough tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and set on the counter at room temperature. Allow to rise for 3 hours.

Then place covered dough in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours.

Lightly dust a large nonstick baking sheet with flour. Turn the cold dough out onto a floured work surface. Using a sharp knife cut dough in half and place dough halves on prepared baking sheet. Using floured hands, shape into 2 long loaves about 3 inches apart. Loosely cover and allow to rest for 45 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 475 degrees F.

Score the bread loaves with 3 shallow cuts.

Place in oven on the center rack. Bake for 25 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.

Remove the bread from the oven and allow to cool for at least 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Enjoy! 😉
