I ❤️ Candy! Homemade Twix Candy Bars!

Ingredients

SHORTBREAD LAYER

1 c. (2 sticks) butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tsp. pure vanilla extract

2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp. kosher salt

CARAMEL LAYER

2 (11-oz.) packages caramel squares 

1 cup heavy cream

CHOCOLATE GANACHE LAYER

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup heavy cream

Flaky sea salt, for garnish


Instructions

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.

Line a 13x9 baking pan with parchment paper. MAKE SHORTBREAD LAYER

Cream softened butter with sugar until fluffy. Add flour and vanilla and mix until a crumbly texture.

Press mixture into prepared pan and poke all over with a fork.

Bake approx. 30 mins. or until lightly golden. Let cool completely. 

MAKE CARAMEL LAYER

In small saucepan over medium-low heat, stir caramels and heavy cream together until melted approx. 10 minutes. Pour over cooled shortbread crust. 

MAKE GANACHE CHOCOLATE LAYER

Heat heavy cream in small saucepan over medium heat until simmering (DO NOT ALLOW TO BOIL) and pour over chocolate chips. Let sit for 2 minutes then whisk until smooth and silky. Pour over caramel layer. 

Refrigerate 30 minutes until firm, then slice into bars. Top with flaky sea salt.
