Easter around the World Week!

Easter is next Sunday and I’m so excited to make different dishes from “Around the World” that are served on this Holiday!! Let’s start off with this absolutely delicious snack! Did you know that Buñuelos are first known to have been consumed in Spain. They typically consist of a dough that is thinly rolled, cut or shaped into individual pieces, then deep fried and finished off with a sweet topping. Buñuelos may be filled with a variety of ingredients, sweet or savory. They can be shaped into round balls or can be disc-shaped. In Latin America, buñuelos are seen as a symbol of good luck!

In Catalonia they are consumed mostly during Lent. They are usually eaten as a snack or to accompanied with coffee after lunch. They are served around the world, each prepared differently.

Cinnamon Sugar Bunuelos

4 cups flour

1 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. salt

1/2 cup sugar 2 eggs

1 cup milk

1 stick butter, melted

Vegetable oil for frying

Ingredients Topping

1 cup granulated sugar

4 tbsp. ground cinnamon


In a large bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar and set aside.

In a small bowl beat the eggs and milk. Gradually add egg mixture to flour mixture mixing continuously.

Add the melted butter to dough and beat together using hand-held mixer. Dough will be very sticky.

Place dough on floured surface and knead it.

Using a rolling pin dusted with flour roll out the dough on a floured surface. Cut into thin strips using dough cutter. Roll each strip into long rope like strips and then shape them into round disc. Flatten disc with palm of hand.

Heat the vegetable oil to 370 degrees F. in deep saucepan or deep fryer.

Place two discs at a time and fry the dough until golden brown both sides and completely done in middle, approx. 1-2 minutes each side.

Drain on paper towels.

Toss in the cinnamon/sugar mixture!
